Basically it’s got a SAO vibe, but a twist in this manga, people choose not to logout and stay in the game, even if it means dying in real life (even though ended up logging out because Hato advice and information). and the shocking part, Hato turns out to be a real AI, like Alice in Sword Art Online except here she’s fully virtual instead of having a robot body like alice :haa:

thank you for translating

so, basically reverse SAO
the twist idea is interesting, but it's still so stupid when you break it down

interesting,
even before 2012 SAO boom
there is several manga with same virtual reality game theme
the closest i think is 2002 .hack // series
but with VR and intelegent AI development , its more close to 2005 korean manhwa YUREKA

It's quite interesting how much this flips reality on its head. We have a realistic depiction of what would happen with such intense gaming (since some people are addicted to less) and then we have an AI going against them with "ethics". I have a feeling the AI will "learn" either that its an AI (if it doesn't know) and will feel live it can be real in the game or that the AI starts to utilize violence and codes to adjust and force players out

I feel like author established too much for a first chapter at this rate this manga might even end in 10 chapters

This right after I read an old article about teens committing suicide after long exposure to ChatGPT. Not sure how I want to take this manga.

As a wannabe systems engineer 🤡here might be a few solutions to the symptoms and a quite glaring issues with the implementations of visions tech..

So Let's start making up an assumptions on the requirements for the systems within reason for the given tech:

1. It need somekind of a connection, either through internet, direct or what not in order to facilitated a communications between players (and possibly servers? or decentralized p2p??? Details are vague but it's very important for formulate the solutions)

2. It need constant source power
Either feed from a wallplug or a batteries to feed it.
and I hope it's not from a biological sources.. That seems rather inefficient, it overcomplicated things, and I bet much more risky for a beta-release product. (Ya don't wanna get trouble with big daddy amirite?)

Then there is issues with forcibly disconnecting the visions from players:

First it implies when disconnected physically it will causes some kind of brain damage albeit very small chance, But Id argue that is still a much better deal compared to losing your life and risking death for just sitting on a chair inside VR for extended period of times

Second they also says(?) That It is also the same reasons for why they can't forcibly log out players, they didn't elaborate on the details..

Third it hints that some players do want to exits to the outside world but face technical difficulties logging out and didn't wanna face the pain of dying in a virtual worlds (due to how excruciating the pain was).

So from the the story and explanations we get only 2 possible options for players to exit the world, either first force their hp to zero (ie kill them) or log out involuntarily, but I think there is a also few path to achieve that goals:

First: if it were more grounded to reality, the visions is server-managed games, I.e the games has a centralized server for managing the state (stats, levels, currency and so on) and so it can be tampered and modified by either admins or developers alike (or ethically hacked anyway)..
even if they can't forcibly log out the players directly I still there is a realistic workaround for example : forcing ALL players to have zero HP (like /kill @a on minecraft) or give the government side most op weapons to clear out all the players...

Second: as stated with the requirements of visions tech, it needs both a persistent network and constant source of power.
Unless the product was HORRIBLY designed like it might possibly cause a brain damage if it were to just stop providing power (which I can't press enough how horrible of a design this might be if this were to be the case.. Imagine the lawsuit lol, future vibe engineers please take safety seriously)
As long as the tech is not HORRIBLY designed I think this is an reasonable options to weigh in..

Third: good ole hacking... It will just be a race against a clock against suicidal players that still don't wanna touch grass, there is multitude of potential paths to do this: hacking the firmware directly on the vr headset, surgery, social engineering (I guess the ai just did that), etc.. I'll leave this options options for the government if they were sufficiently competent to formulate this plan..

Alas take my take as big ass load of salt, I'm not here to critique the themes or the plot of a manga.. just a hobby of mine to dissect the technology of the given setting
