That's jealousy all right. I feel bad for shougo, that guy was training since little and didn't have what it takes to pull off those moves.
I personally think this comes to show how they are actually kids who don't know better, there's no "genius" to what they did, only training and study. They were lucky to have the mindset needed to make those achievements, so there's no need to be jealous.
Nobody amongst these fighter characters has anything the other hasn't.
