I'm more than slightly mortified to discover that the first chapter was just a republication of a one shot that's already been translated. I don't have any particular intentions of coming back to this any time soon - this is an excellent, award-nominated manga, and I am pretty confident it will get snapped up for licensing ASAP (it already has an official English title, after all) - and I don't want to detract from the original scanlators' work, but hopefully this brings some more attention to it in the interim under its new, full title.

I knew nothing about this manga, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to translate it. It's a really refreshing given all these iskeai/escapism manga with characters dropping everything and everything working out in the end.

That is a strong open with the MC reality checks with the romanticism of his job. I wonder if there is a manga with a FMC opening up a flower shop, kind of tired of that trope.

I'm truly looking forward to the English release for this!

A stamp is not itself a bookplate, though a bookplate might be stamped.

Plates and stamps and annotations of famous people increase market values. Plates or stamps or annotations of other people decrease market value, but I've often found interesting stories in investigating such things.

In one amusing case, I bought a copy of Haggard's She, and discovered that it had the plate and stamp and other marks of a then-young James Ward Packard.

You're absolutely right - my apologies for the inaccuracy in my translation.

Without your effort, I would have entirely missed this series; I'd not seen the oneshot. And, anyway, I like reading multiple translations of the better works. (It's the multiple translations of mediocre work that annoy me!)

Thanks for translating this chapter, and adding useful notes! I'll be keeping an eye out for an official translation, either in French or in English~

What do you mean?
My understanding was "All The Books You Can Sell" was an official title, as it was used in a recent English-language Oricon news post (although I can't actually read it due to region blocking...) about it being nominated for the Next Manga Award and is a more localised translation of "Hon Nara Uru Hodo" . Admittedly, I think the subtitle is a bit dodgy (I stand by "October Books" rather than "October Hall Books" for the name of the shop - the dou in juugatsudou is a suffix used by some shops just to indicate it's a shop, and "October Hall" is just Engrish), but perhaps I'm wrong!

This article? The titles it used aren't strictly official, as it called Monochrome Duo “Monochrome Couple”, which while certainly more accurate than the disgusting and atrocious “Monochrome Days”, is not the official English title.

i mean i liked books when i was younger but idk if i 'd say 'books rule' out loud going to a store with friends
Amazing. I never even read books

manga is just books with pictures, so...8D

nice that she got permission but i feel like ppl would take pics anyways XD; idk if you could properly charge, someone could easily just have a pocket on their shirt and just set it to record mode if they wanted to

'disposing of inventory' surely he could've donated them to a library or thrift store/discount unless they're unreadable/no one would buy them

'fake' XD; i'm pretty sure plenty of mangas/Lns have a man genderbended/reborn as a hot girl but yeah

dang large room/collection i feel like it'd take a week if not at least more than 48 hours

Books were my first friends.

... probably will be my last, too. Guess it wasn't a bad life if that's the case.

Japanese libraries, like most around the world, have fairly long lists of rules about what they'll accept as donations - which doesn't include books they already own, books in dodgy condition etc. It's unlikely much of the kind of inventory that is being disposed of would be acceptable.

October Books already is a thrift store/discount store, and that's exactly why he's getting rid of them - they're either in very poor condition or no-one would buy them.
