Have you forgotten the chapters titled Gap and Gap: Part Two? Chapters 46 and 47. This taste or 'kink' has come up a few times since then, too. Basically, Hori likes the contrast of a (forcibly) callous and abusive Miyamura to his usual gentle self (it was termed as a 'gap' between the two extremes in comments, hence the chapter titles). It probably was spurred on by her knowledge of how he acts around Shindou, or at least how he did early on after his introduction, with how violent and abrasive he got towards the guy. There's also that one incident between him and Tooru where he beat the shit out of him for pushing about Hori's feelings sometime before their relationship became official when her dad Kyosuke showed up.
