he doesn't want people to know about his tattoos (probably don't want to be judge as delinquent os something like that)
also, toru likes hori and would feel sad if he knew about their relationship

Yeah... at least when I watched the anime, I don't think they ever sufficiently explained why she didn't want it exposed that she was basically a substitute housewife for her mother because she's almost always working, and her dad only shows up once every few years or something (and they have an extremely strained relationship to the point she never calls him 'dad' anymore, if I recall).

Though maybe it has to do exactly with those details of why she has to take care of housework so much- having people know about her troubled family situation would be awkward for her, probably, and make her feel vulnerable. Considering her tsundere tendencies, it's probably a sore subject that makes her push people away normally, which I feel like partially explains why she rejected Tooru. Miyamura becomes an exception by stumbling across her secret by accident, while exposing his own, so he is the only one she lets get that close to her, but it's still a struggle for her to accept him more. I mean, again, tsundere, which means emotionally vulnerable that puts up walls of disinterest, anger, and sometimes violence, to shield her heart. (to clarify, I've developed an interpretation of tsundere where it refers to a character who presents a strong, often harsh personality, but is actually extremely vulnerable, emotionally, inside... or, at least, I consider the best-written ones to have hidden emotional vulnerability)

Sure, she has friends, but I'd say she doesn't consider any of them as close friends. She keeps them all at a distance to avoid exposing her vulnerable side.

Where Miyamura was always exposing his vulnerable side and got emotionally torn up for it before middle school and such (which made him withdraw), she's been hiding it all this time to avoid that fate, even if it's not necessarily going to happen.


As for the other one... the delinquent thing isn't entirely the issue for Miyamura- some schools might actually be very strict, as some have explained, to the point that revealing you have piercings or tatoos might get you academically punished, like even expulsion in most extreme cases, someone said, I think?
