Why Japan, despite being a bastion of culture, have always shit repesentation of other cultures in manga. Its like authors just learn superifical names so it sounds western-ish and cool enough.

I'm definitely suspicious of Gora, yeah. He seems fine enough, but harold getting two new allies (one of which wasn't asked for), but only having one of them (the established character) undergo the oath of secrecy is incredibly suspicious story-writing.

Considering the name of the series, I find it hard to believe nothing bad's going to happen to the royal family, and this whole situation's definitely being set up as the precursor to them getting offed.

Indeed, all very true. I trust only the witches less than these two sailors. Of course it could also be a red herring. At the end of the day, it's weird Yuuri would want to trust the sextant in the hands a drunkard who got thrown out of his own ship and then some totally unknown dude. Instead of the most trusted captain of the royal navy, for example.

Honestly, I'm not too worried about Harold. I think at this point he's likely sufficiently slotted as a reformed character, and is probably gonna be one of Yuuri's main navy guys going forward (heck, he even got the anime hair-cutting makeover of resolution, even if it was Yuuri who actually did it). Other guy's trouble though. Yuuri's probably gonna have Harold help kill him after he defects or something.

Have you not ben paying attention. They are on Earth. The story takes place in a fictional future therefore it makes sense that some version of Christianity as well as other religions would survive in some form.
