The first two chapters were pretty good, but this one kinda fumbles the bag with the princess. I already kinda didn't like her due to her haphazard attitude towards sparing him (he kill your men? Even from a morale standpoint it's unreasonable to just spare him outright, moreso to offer him a position of power suddenly over your previous soldiers; that's a surefire way to seed dissent. She's a fucking idiot. Besides that, there's also the ridiculous lack of tact, which is played as some sorta character trait to add upon how she's so supposedly empathetic. Which she's not, considering she doesn't care the guy in front of him just killed her men. How would her soldiers feel?). Add that onto the fact that the protagonist now suddenly sees her as this goddess figure (lowkey makes me feel like she's gonna betray him too, but that'd be too much for a story like this) and I'm really not as enthusiastic about the characterisation of a series like this.
To differentiate itself from other "Ohhh I'm so edgy" stories, a manga needs to have nuance - something this manga tries to do but I think ultimately fails at. At least for now. The fact that it tried at all is commendable and gives me hope that perhaps the story will develop for the better.
