she fell into Hell at the same time as the Nakamura family.
So, quite some time. It's interesting that the way to approach the whole mystery about her is different depending on whether you've read Higurashi or not.
@Le_Dook It's got me hooked for sure, whatever it is! ?
@Lyendith Thanks! I think I should read the spoiler once I get to finish this series. So, it's connected to Higurashi? Interesting... I literally began looking into that universe today, and am daunted by its scope.
@Couchpotato Well, kinda… and kinda not. Takano originally appears in Higurashi, but this series' Takano seems to be a different version of her, unrelated to the Higurashi one… so there's no real connection plot-wise. But having read Higurashi can give a few things away.
well at laest the author doesn't waste time dragging the story along, I like these type of stories where there is noticeable progression each chapter and very little cliff hanger tactics.
always like it when authors do their work as a miniseries like this since it allows them to set the pace just right. i only hope this doesn't end on a cliffhanger like 6000 did (another short horror manga which this manga's artist also provided art for).
on the subject of takano:
this manga's takano had several flashbacks which seemed to refer to the grandpa of the takano in higurashi. also higurashi took place in 1983 (30+ years before this one). plus, the community center in this story greatly resembles the one in real life Shirakawa village which was used as a base for the town of Hinamizawa. the village also resembles the real life Shirakawa up to the alluvial fan thing. i'm starting to think hotarubi no tomoru koro ni is a legit spin-off.
@yldDavid The Shōwa era was a period of years in the modern Japanese history that includes the following: 1926-1989, so when the dude says "Shōwa 58" that means the year 1984 in the western calendar, the story takes place in 2016, so yeah it was more than 30 years ago (32 to be exact).
Fun fact: we are currently in the Heisei era, the year 30 as of 2019.
