Ok yeah not noticing 6+ inches and a color change is stupid, but noticing 5cm is asking for too much.
Not to mention the dilemma of "would complimenting come of as creepy".
Only 5 cm?* Hell, I most boys don't even notice 6+ inches and a change in color

*I really wanted to make a 5 cm/s joke here but it's not coming together....
Same, sometimes the puns just don't come.
You could've somehow tied it to him running though.

When all else fails, make like Forest Gump and Run, Arase, Run!

5cm is about 2 inches. That seems noticeable, but only if you've paid attention to the spot where her braids end. And that spot is on her chest. So by noticing he'd be admitting he stares at her chest! This notice has a high risk/high reward.

To be fair, the proportional change is more important than the total length. 2 inches off two feet is borderline unnoticeable, but 2 inches off 12 is a definitely more of a "whoa, that's a new look". And auburn-to-red depends on the lighting, ya know. and, and... :haa:

I was thinking of "she's falling for him at 5 cm/s"...but none of that quite works in context 🤷

Getting a style change is worthy of commenting, maintaining a length isn't. I say this as a guy with long hair that reaches my butcrack. If I got my ends trimmed I wouldn't expect anyone to notice, if I wear it up in a Mohawk or were to get an undercut, yeah, people would comment.

If you're that vain and petty that you feel entitled to comments on a maintenance trim, you need to work on your self awareness.

As a guy with long hair I can safely say my female friends did not notice when I cut it by like, a couple inches. It's all about proportions.

That said, when I cut my hair by like 6 inches, my guy friends took a few days to notice, so the stereotype is real.
