Hmmm, which of those would make a better candidate for succeding the emperor: a swordsman that can beat people up, a magician that can throw fireball or wathever, or a freaking genius that can think up strategies, budgets, plans and laws? Hmmmmm....

Every new author should be told "Don't make your MC a 'genius', because YOU are the one that'll do the thinking for them, and however highly you think of yourself, you're not Einstein, Napoleon, Myamoto Musashi, Mozart and Ramanujan all rolled up into one."
