I'm pretty sure she was just there to watch, since he wanted to make her his accomplice. Like basically, "we killed him" instead of just "I killed him." I don't think she actually did anything herself though

Yeah, possibly. From what he said he wanted her to do it, but she couldn't, so he finished it. That he killed someone is evident from the blood splattered on the side of his face/clothes.
