I think you guys made a mistake in the formatting when you posted it-

Did they change her back story? Why is she insisting being born as an orphan?

She's making a huge assumption that she's isekai'd into the webcomic, and not into the original work that the protag of the webcomic isekai'd into - that is to say she's not in the webcomic at all, thus there was no protagonist.
Anyway, I'm going to read ch.2 now and see that she was right anyway, lol.
