I honestly find it weird why there are MMO stories and the writers didn't even bother playing a MMO for research.
Like, why?

It's very likely because they just want to chase the trend, and were forced to make one by their editors, even without any proper research, since animangas about games/VR is somewhat still popular nowadays, because they're basically "isekai, but not isekai".

IMHO, the only title that really holds up high in terms of gaming relevance is Log Horizon, where the characters and story were all very old-school MMO style with the various classes, raids that takes lots of time to complete, getting wiped countless times in bosses to learn their attack patterns + formulate strategy, etc.

It's really sad that the majority of animangas with games/MMOs as their story always have this bad settings, story, and character development, where the author just handed the MC really crazy stuffs right from the start, and somehow they're the only one who has it, despite the game were very popular with thousands of players, including hard core ones, which clearly doesn't make any sense at all...
