I see a lot of people judging this way too quickly.

Like what’d you expect to happen after everything thats going on? That she’d take it in stride? Or that she’d not cry about it?

Crying doesn’t mean she’s getting away with anything and its very easy to be sympathetic to her situation while still calling her out on her bs.

I like the mc, but the fmc is kinda blegh. She's already a successful idol. No real reason to listen to her grandfather at this point and doesn't excuse her overworking her manager.

there's no way he's the guy her super affluent & old-fashioned grandfather handpicked to be her marriage partner.
Even dating wouldn't dissuade a man who thinks like he's portrayed to operate.

But I do think the ploy will be him helping her meet the condition set by her grandfather, and along the way they'll end up falling for one another.
its 100% going to be the generic thing where both of their grandfathers were friends and promised to join their families or whatever, and after she fights for 6 months, she'll barely fail to reach the 3m CDs, only for the grandfather to say her partner is the MC, who will have forgotten all the pain and suffering FMC caused him for years because she treated him like a human being for 6 months.

They should just go public that a hotel chain is trying to force a popular idol into retiring and getting married against her will. The rabid neckbeards would probably terrorize the business.
Before they terrorize the business, i think grandpa is gonna destroy the idol agency and do something to confine the fmc. I am pretty sure the influence owners of large conglomerates hold is too great for a 20 yo girl and an idol agency to resist, granted the idol agency will side with the fmc which i kinda doubt

Always hated rom-coms with "arranged marriage" plot. It's a very cheap plot device,(and honestly very outdated)MC had a goal and now will suddenly realised that he's in love withe FMC

3rd chapter has a flashback. I think they were friends. So this situation really doesn't feel right.

From first impressions, manager-kun is not that great at his job but tries his best (he's the manager, he should be communicating with and managing the talent he's working with, not be a slave)... he's also punishing himself by seeing things that aren't there. Like literally, this guy gets stressed when she just stares at him for being late, it would be more understandable if she actually does scold him and he's not in it for that bs.

Meanwhile idol-chan is an unknowing slave driver that's clinging to a connection she had in the past and can't see that she's driving her friend into a pit of despair. She's basically pushing her ambitions into her manager, all those "adult stuff" she says they should deal with? Manager deals with it.

Both could've switched who they worked with but they didn't.

Also, why the fuck is the manager doing the video editing??? Are they poor? Can't they hire anyone?

That phone call moment feels like she actually just wants to talk to her friend... feeling isolated late into the night does that to an mfer. Awful timing cuz she really doesn't seem to know that he's been getting no sleep.

There's a bunch of things wrong with this. But also some clear set up pieces.

I already know how they're going to develop this misunderstanding rollercoaster... but it made me curious at how the author can actually deliver. They already fumbled it by having this weird unreliable narrator format where the author is obviously setting it up but leaving out vital info (like is she actually driving him insane or is he just doing it to himself), creating characters that are utterly clueless even though they've been working with each other for a long time.

Like bro, just communicate.

If chapter 4 (no snippet yet, chap 3 is girl's pov ending in the same cliff) starts with the guy clamming up, then that's just obvious bait.

It's already been set up for a confrontation scene. Girl wants answers, guy is drunk. If they don't actually talk and later reconcile and teamup then this story would go nowhere.

Not buying this attempt to rationalize her treatment of him. Sure, it sucks she's being forced into an arranged marriage by her exploitative grandfather. But to save her own skin she's become the exploitative idol for the MC. It's a vicious cycle of exploitation!

I think this is a story about boundaries. You need to tell your deranged billionaire grandfather off, and if he does not respect that, then push him off a balcony. You need to stand your ground against an employer who calls you after work hours and demands you work on something immediately. And if they don't respect that boundary, then do your work half-assed!
yeah... Japanese are not famous for setting this kind of boundary
