Would be nice if someone could pick this up again. I think Game of Scanlation is dead as a door-nail...

I've always been curious: why are Korean manhwa authors seemingly unable to write a likeable protagonist? Why can't they be something other than cheating hypocritical bastards or wimps who seem sympathetic but have a hint of psychotic narcissism inside them?

EDIT: Okay I take my words back. The main character isn't a psycho narcissist. I thought that because of him telling the girl to turn around, which just sounded ridiculous.

I've almost caught up on the chapters now, but he's still a terrible protagonist. It's not cause he's meek, because there are great MCs that are meek like Tadano from Komi-san but they're all great.

This guy's terrible because he's totally devoid of personality. He's completely empty. He's just a vessel the writer uses to elicit "Oh he's such a nice guy" reactions from the heroines and force their relationships forward. Anything that seems to hint at his true personality or his inner motivations is quickly abandoned in favor of more pseudo-romance hijinks.

First chapter makes it seem for a bit that he wants to get over his gynophobia. He even seems to have a passion for photography, but that's hardly touched after the first chapter. I would've liked to read a story about a boy who wants to be a professional photographer of female models but his gynophobia prevents him from chasing that dream. It would've been a good catalyst for interacting with heroines and also a good source of humor.

But the story focuses more on hyulla's and the conflict between humans and vampires. That's nice, except we don't get much of that either. There should be some world building, and a compelling reason why the protagonist chooses one side or is torn between two.

All we have is just an empty guy is carried along by the plot and simply responds to the situation as the author needs him to.

I see this with korean manhwas many times. The characters are all empty, and there's no compelling development for any of them.

Whew this MC gets to a new level of unlikeable. Oh wow, he forgave the girl who used him for money and if not for the teacher would also have made him a social outcast and now she's all wet for him. Great writing, please end this garbage.

The characters are inconsistent in personality and resolve. And the old dude with the fan is so cringey

@otoshi-god Read Parallel Paradise if that's what you're after (Not being an asshole, it's a legit recommendation). Personally, I think the MC is meant to remind dudes not to think with their dicks and to actually show some honor (Remember Eastern countries (China, Japan, etc) are actually VERY conservative compared to the more liberal Western countries (America, Europe, etc).

On the flip side, I also think it's meant to subtly empower women readers to show that not all heroines need a knight in shining armor when they can easily wear it for themselves. Not all dudes are macho badasses and not all women are dainty flowers.

Just my two copper bits.

@TwilightFaze
I am not mad about the MC not taking advantage of the female heroin's.
Almost every man in this site will be in the same awkwardness if a female suddenly throes to him.
I am mad that the MC is pictured as a "Holy Man", the "stop is not his fault" or "we should forgive everything" "is no one's fault"

...that's kind of contradictory. You first gripe it's because he's "spineless" then turn around and say the average male in the real world would be the same way if this kind of situation happened. Then you turn around again and are mad because he's trying to be a nice guy? You're not being consistent. Again, not being jackass. I'm legit confused where you're going with this since your train of thought is going three different ways.

I'll offer my two cents. Unlike the other male MCs who have a personality quirk, I think he's actually the straight man, or the voice of reason, in the manwha's absurdities. He stays grounded, he's genuinely a nice guy, stays true to his morals, and (especially unlike other male MCs) is not a "lucky pervert." Everyone he meets is a nut job on some level. Someone's gotta play the role of the normal nice guy. The MC is just the one this time around.

Did this get axed or something? I'm glad it's over anyways because I'm not sure why I was reading it in the first place. The plot sucked and the MC sucked. The female characters weren't particularly interesting either. The ones I liked most were the two Nam girls but they weren't exactly handled that well either. Everything about this is just mediocre, but then again so is most of the author's other works too. Huh....

Man that axe must've come out of nowhere for an ending this rushed, holy fuck, they could at least give the authors like 10+ chapters to wrap things up. It didn't feel like the ending was anywhere near happening when he was kidnapped.

The art and the professor were probably the best qualities of this series, but yeah it did feel like an axe even if the ending was cute enough. The seeds for a longer more drawn out conflict were obviously there but it seems like everybody including the author just wanted it to end already. Nonetheless, I hope Cu-Rim decides to draw more stuff, the art was at least really good.
