Ah, the sweet potato is a Korean saying. There are two kinds of stories with happy endings, apple cider and sweet potatoes. An apple cider story gives a rush of happiness with quick resolutions to problems, while a sweet potato requires a lot of hard work (and often danger in these settings) to get happiness.

Goguma (sweet potato) is usually used for things that gives frustating or annoying feeling (be it situations, actions, or people). And saida (cider) is the opposite of it, used for refreshing and happy things (like stuffs that's done in straightforward manner without any unfortunate circumstances).
