Suzuki, at this point during his first (second?) act, is really getting to become a better person than he used to be. Just compare this version of him to the version that almost got a nosebleed at the prospect of a harem, or the version that thought girls were only attracted to wealth and power, or even the version that went to a mixer for the express purpose of hooking up, despite the fact that he had a girlfriend in what seemed to be quite a steady relationship.
I expect him to revert sometime in the next few dozen chapters, possibly coinciding with the death of Hiromi.
