Lying about having a girl/boyfried to family/colleagues/friends and then needing to prove it is one of the most ridiculous stable plot elements in manga. Such a lie only looks smart or natural when it's some unknown person trying to hit on you and you want to use the most convenient and believable excuse to immediately reject their approach for good. Since it's a total stranger you will probably never talk to again, you don't need to prove anything, nor will the lie likely ever come back to haunt you later.

Istant mistake in the comic, guy rented a girlfriend for the double date, gyaru came to him after being hired...on the day of the double date.
Story doesn't work because she should have refused work that day, someone could bring up the point that she wanted to use the possible client to trich the guy, would anyone here pay for the illusion of a dating a girl and then go on a fake double date with your "employee" because she wants to trick some dude?

She could've been one of those "girlfriend" that is available to rent without agency.

That's indeed true. She would have needed to inform the client beforehand. However, clearly the MC dude (who ended up being the client) wasn't aware of such a condition, meaning she didn't inform anyone. So, if we try to force logic into this, she was just purely hoping to convince her paying customer to suddenly humour her in such a ridiculous way. Depending on the customer, it might actually work, for example if she promised some steamy extra service afterwards, in private. She seems too innocent for that, though.

maybe he's a rental boyfriend and she hired him too, then the idiocy cancels out.

Well, it's true now, LOL.

If they're on a double date with themselves
Are they twice as much in love??
