I know such behavior would be natural for a frightened little kid. Trying to grab Yeon would be his only means of communication, being mute. But I still found him annoying as a character in this story. It's also absolutely correct that Yeon can't afford to have someone helpless to look after. Her relatives would use him against her in a heartbeat.
