Because he was an agent of the empire. The empire Jackal belongs to. The one he's still faithful to.
It's like, say, you're a dog that hasn't gotten to see its owner for the longest time, and then suddenly, this owner appears, has never forgotten about you, and welcomes you back.

It's not about Ash in particular. Given what we know of the the nature of the dungeon, Jackal could have been stuck there for decades, or even centuries, without aging. So it's not about Ash himself, and more about what he represents : the imperial family.
