MC can feel the demons through his raised power, as from a book he couldn't have know who the mole was on the spot, he likely needed the magic circle with the first one for being too weak to felt who was it between the servants, or it was a test if the magic circle works, then he can spread it through the empire to find the moles later.
About the name list, it coudl have been present in the book, but it would be weird to have all names of the demons moles, is possible that like the group leader the other shadows have a normal job in the castle and MC identified the demons and made the list himself, possibly a translation or writer mistake that makes it feel like he is refeering only to the shadows.
About the star eyes...MC initially thought he had a limited time before getting put back in the past, it could be that he actually did that after going to the future, and all he could do was to to create heirs with a power similar to his and various legacies, like the shadows.
Make sense too because the book he read predicted the future perfectly, so if a copy survived others could have used it, unless he made so every copy got destroyed in the past.
