Went to re-read this series for an itch of an older Ikuemi series, and so I can appropiately mark it as complete, years later (I think last time I read this was a year or so before the original Bato shut down).
And "I Love Her" is... fascinating. Ikuemi definitely gives us characters that aren't perfect at all, and that they are all very immature as well, despite well, everything.
Shindou, for example, definitely would have been the wiser in not getting involved with high schoolers, and Hana points it out perfectly to him that he is too "nice" so girls her age took it wrongly. Doesn't help given Tsuyaka's situation at home (and Hana's too, like, I understand her mom was looking for certain stability... but, man... I MEAN...), and you have a recipe for disaster to happen. But, doesn't it give it a juicy story to write and draw about? And Ikuemi delivered on that side.
Each main character is interesting, they were all lonely in their own ways. I just wish Ikuemi went a little further in Shindou's mind to see more of his side and his thoughts in all of this... but I do feel his actions suggest he is as immature as Hana and Tsuyaka, hence his on and off relationship with his ex and other small details about his character (and decisions in the way). Or why he really got along better with Hana.
