How is it weird. It's meant as in something precious or a unique experience. Although anime/manga/manhwa/etc, exaggerates it, we also see them trying hard to prepare for it. While irl, some people just do things at the heat of the moment and regrets it later on. Personally, I've set up the mood and preparations whenever we feel like advancing the relationship. So it isn't as bad when I look back at it even though it now feels repulsive as I've already dumped her.
