Oof, it's one thing to have less-than-stellar translations, but to finish the chapter on a sentence that makes no sense... haha

Did y'all mean "Why do I see myself in front of me?" or even "Why am I seeing myself in front of me?"

(To be fair, the "in front of me" part isn't even necessary, I'm just keeping it to be more in line with the current translation)

I don't know about "always". I read both versions of chapter 1 and preferred kaiscans: for example, they described everyone as "petrified" instead of "hardened", among other choices that felt better. But the quality definitely fell off a cliff, so now I'm curious how freakscans had handled things, so I might reread from their version.

Beside the tl for the most part it's readable. At least it's english. Clearly needs a proof reader.
Otherwise. I'm liking this story. I'm hoping for a happy ending here. Fleeta didn't deserve all that barbaric torture. Emotional, mental, and physical torture on a child is beyond barbaric it's demonic. The elder sister needs to be punished, and her father too. Fleeta's mother pleaded for fleetas safety, and she's treated like that. Truly what a bastard the emperor's. I'm sure if the archduke's country was stronger than Aranthos treating the niece of the archduke like that would mean war.
