Chinese manga strips like this one are the trashiest of trash. The social culture that most of these authors brings to life is a toxic cesspool of material appearances and faked modesty that leads into not-humble bragging. These authors and their characters live in a power fantasy where life is a game to be won, to step on other people and show off at every encounter.
Other not-Chinese story strips have a bunch of overused cliches but at least they try to make the characters likeable. The only character that is ever important in these Chinese story strips is the protagnoist himself and himself alone. Cunt Yifan doesnt have any true friends-- his sect brother, like everyone else, is just a hand puppet that goes "oh wow!" to everything he does. He always runs off and doesnt even build rapport with his so-called friends. They are only "friends" because they dont instantly try to use the MC as a stepping stone. Might as well be a polite acquaintance that have lunch together once a year. And the affection of the heroine in the real world is LITERALLY being AFK farmed by this dude. It's insane how bad this writing is. These chinese power fantasies lack humanity, compassion, or virtue. Look at the sect sister in the other chapter. Very insecure and because of it, she chooses wrong decisions but clearly not an inherently evil person and is just trying to find her place in the world. Lazily and mindlessly killed in a single panel without being given a second chance, complete waste of a character with potential of development. The Chinese love holding grudges and are merciless to the smallest of slights. If I wanted to see this narcissitic shitcan behavior, I'd pay more attention to my relatives being fake as fuck and the cold wars they wage over whose child is better
