Not true. Several xianxia mc's I know are actually very mellow until you either try to kill them (or worse) try to kill someone they care about.
The nicer he is, the more likely he's a brutal savage if you ever really piss him off.

He has yet to be in any danger at all. And he can easily save the girls with him. So we've seen no situation where he actually has to do anything aside from be amused at 'lesser being' antics.
