"Wow, I'm about to die. Anyways dear reader, Illya's nickname is pretty cringe!"

Still love how nonchalant she is about everything. :ROFLMAO:

Thanks for the translation!

so is this series just going to be mysterious the whole time with no answers?
I think we are finally getting somewhere, it's just going very, very slowly...

We’re only 40 chapters in, be patient!
We're "only 40 chapters in" but I think we could've been told the same amount of information in half that. I'm reminded of my comment from almost half a year ago:

Absolutely, the heroine is treating it like a game - and it is. Everything we've been shown is all still entirely within the realm of the intended experience of the game (even if the heroine hasn't seen it yet) and she seems outright bored with anything that happens that isn't tied to one of capture targets being attractive. Even the new plotline about the heroine's character being sick and the other characters being WAY more favorable to her is treated like "huh, that's weird" and not dwelled upon any further.

There's nothing weird going on with the game (at least as far as we know so far) - no being trapped in the game, no isekai situation where the game is a real world, the AI characters aren't developing some sort of sapience, nothing. So all we're supposed to be following so far is the story of the game itself... which the heroine has seen a hundred times and doesn't interact with outside a purely mechanical "gamer" perspective. She's just treating the story as a checklist and the characters as eye candy.

We aren't able to connect with the story inside the game because the heroine doesn't care. And despite throwing out crazy stuff like the heroine being a faulty clone living in a futuristic city with some sort of debilitating illness, the story outside the game has been purposefully ignored as well so there's really just nothing for us to get attached to.

It feels like both the heroine and all us readers are just sitting around waiting for the actual story to start.

My feelings are largely the same as they were back then - we're sitting here waiting for the story to kick off. It certainly feels like it's going to start soon, but I've also been saying that for months now...

Since that post we know she's a faulty clone for some reason, that there's a rebel force trying to do something, the game is trying to show the heroine something, and we know at least one character has memories of previous playthroughs somehow. Don't get me wrong, I like the mystery and that's why I'm sticking with this series, but it feels really weird for me to be far more interested in any of these mysteries than the main character seems to be. She hasn't treated any of these topics with more thought than "Huh, that's weird. Anyways..." and blankly proceeding with the game.

Even this chapter where she's experiencing death-like sensations (and evidently her heart rate is going nuts since the system is trying to forcibly log her out), and yet her inner voice still seems just as disconnected and bored as usual - thinking more about how Illya has a cringe nickname than anything that's actually happening inside the game or out.

Plenty of serieses have taken less than that for their entire lifetime and still felt satisfying, meanwhile I'm still sat here wondering why I'm reading this and trying to figure out where it's going or when it's even going to begin.

She couldn't log out. And her thinking about the real Asha only for her irl name to be name dropped. Girlll. I think you dropped the drowning death flag but picked but a worst one
Many thanks
