Maison Ikkoku is a good forgotten classic.

Fair warning, there will be several times when you'll want to slap some sense into the main characters, and the side-characters can get super annoying, but the overall pay-off makes it worth sticking through hell and high water. Though idk if you'll find the English translation her on Mangadex, but it's pretty simple to find with a quick google search.
