OK, so the point of departure is in fact birth. Huge parts of the setting are completely diverged from the source because a totally different person was born as Kashimir. Why would she fear any of the consequences of the original story when neither her nor her sister are the same people from the original story? Their bond is already profound and their love for each other doesn't look shakeable, so... just keep trucking. Why would circumstances now change to force the original character arcs to occur when they never have in the last 18 years, and the characters themselves logically can't start from the same point of origin because that point changed? The promo chapter shows that everything is different anyway so Kashimir looks extra foolish worrying about events that can't possibly come to pass in the same way, even if the same players take similar positions.
