I do not read WN but well, first thing nobody put a gun to their head to make a bad adaptation (I hope at least)
but second a story even an adaptation has to stand for itself.

You have quite a lot of bad adaptation that are great story, I mean one many people know, or well might not even have realized it was an adaptation because how far it is from the source but the film "Edge of tomorrow" is based on a Light Novel, and I did not read it but I read the manga that is probably also a interpretation of the source and yeah both are not telling the same story at all, but both are cool read/watch anyway
Or well the first Full Metal Alchemist, I haven't watched it but like even the author enjoyed it even if it did not follow the plot at the end
Now I will not pretend I can list many from head, most of the LN/WN adaptation I have the displeasure to read aren't... great, still reading because I kinda train wreck and when the author stop even think if it is a good idea or make sense because you may see something no good author would even attempt to write and so you can find gold in a pile of shit or at least something you did not read before and I value that, but I general gravitate toward original story for the thing I actually enjoy

I could buy it if that was a temporary antidote not the true one and she showed up at the last moment if the master was minutes from death, BUT the problem with so many LN/WN or heck even Asian story telling (I read less from the EU or US so idk how prevalent it is here) but it is to explain everything like they are the team rocket team in the season one of the anime in a long exposition even if it is REALLY REALLY obvious... so when they do not do that, you could assume they finally read for the first time "show do not tell"... or like the previous how many chapter they just did not care about it or though
And even in this situation they where no show anyway
