I wouldn't agree with the reader who said this is torture porn. He does seem to be getting slowly more resourceful, especially as Hyuk Jin; and less self-centered. But whether he's going to learn to regard death as something of great magnitude, as she wants… with this death, he's learned what torture and slow pain are. Right now, there are very few things that should be able to scare him, including her threats.

The endgame might be his succeeding her in the job.

Incidentally… an intriguing analogy for the motivations of a sociopathic serial killer. Less forced and contrived than most demented speeches we see by villains in manga and the like.

@Kendama nice commentary. I totally agree about the serial killer, the desire to make an emotional impact on people is something I could actually see a psychopath doing.

I think Death is going about this all wrong. The way to make him fear death isn't to just torture him or kill him quickly, it's to make him have a lot to lose. At this point, what it should do is put him in the body of a successful man, happily married to a loving woman and with several wonderful children. And then just leave him, for years. As soon as he got settled in, and actually started to be happy, the terror that it will all be snatched away will start to set in. And after years of caution and paranioa, of being nice to everyone and looking both ways on the street, a brick falls off a catwalk and kills him instantly. That's the nature of death, after all. Making life miserable for a man who already wants to end it won't change his mind.

I didn't even notice the knife was censored.

One of the reasons is definitely that it's just a knife and it's relatively unimportant, but I think the other is probably that I've looked at enough hentai to immediately start visualizing what's underneath the mosaic without a second thought. I wonder if I would have noticed more if it was just a bunch of inconveniently placed black bars.

If my theory of Death lying at the start is true, she's probably going to introduce him to the whole spectrum to help him grow and appreciate life more. She's gotten the shittier deaths out of the way, probably. It's the fact that this whole series is basically a set of simulations that has me questioning why do anything at all?

again where the fuck is he getting this pride to shit talk and look down on Death, now even attacking her and still provoking her. I can't blame him for lashing out here but he's always been like this so it makes me numb to his reaction.

I guess it might be because he's personally going through these experiences that makes him so reluctant to sit down and take what Death is making him experience. But from the beginning he was just way too optimistic and prideful. The dude needed to be taken down a peg and now that he's finally gone through a little of hell, he'll just keep lashing out like crazy.

@Hamin I don't think it's out of pride. It's more like being restless and stressed out that he always ends up venting out of frustration and triggerring her, even unintentional at times. So far, he ends up making her angry in different reasons. Like one is planning to kill himself again and the other is screaming out of injustice of the person he just came from.
