I think the author is toning down on her reality. I have a dirty mind and i cant help but think that theres no way she didnt get any sexual abuse while she was a prisoner of war but had gone as far as having her eyes gauged. But theres no reason to show those things and im liking her craziness. This is how someone who gone back in time after suffering unfairness should be mentally.
