I've seen a lot of that lately. I think that creators of manhwa have been trying to avoid the stigma thereof by repacking their shituff as manga.

arguments why this could count as korean is: the author and artist are korean and the novel was written in korean

Because anime is simply short for animation so in Japan anything animated is anime. It's here in the West that we make distinctions but Manga,Manhua, Manhwa and Webtoon are considered different.
