No problem. How things are going now I now have a longer turn around to get chapters out, but overall the quality of what I'm putting out now is higher so I hope the longer time between release of the raw and the scanlation isn't too much of a problem. Honestly I'm a little iffy myself about how and where the story is going now, but I'm optimistic since the author had a really good build up and reveal.
As long as this remains like a character driven series I think it'll all be fine.
That's the double-edged sword of the particular device here. There's a limited number of (good) ways to handle it. It's a situation that literally STARTS with the suspension of disbelief, and almost requires more to move forward. It's absolutely possible to be done well (and in a lesser regard, generate a "happy ending", or positive ending) but it does tend to require skill and work. I agree, this work is definitely character driven, and that could easily carry it, provided the "environmental conditions" don't overwhelm it.
To clarify, a "negative" or "melancholy" ending is not necessarily bad, just can often require less stretching believability and deus ex in these scenarios. I am very interested in seeing what route this goes. It definitely lowers the odds of them getting a happily ever after, but if the author does it well, and pulls it off, it could be something special. Conversely, another mostly positive (but not storybook) resolution with the current setting isn't anywhere near as complicated, and while not as "warm and fuzzy", could also be satisfying, given the already demonstrated writing ability.
