Is it possible for a story to double jump a shark? Jump two sharks? The ghost twist was pretty good and made for a better story. I’ve been binging this and have gotten pretty invested, but this mother of evil spirits stuff is taking me right out of it. First the ghost attack and now this random guy getting introduced. Without build up or anything to ground it and make me suspend my disbelief, it just comes across like he’s a chuuni.

Feels like ideas are just sort of being crammed into a story that wasn’t made with them in mind, but there’s no editor to blame since this is a doujinshi.

Hopefully the series turns itself around and these developments improve it in the long run like the ghost twist did.

Moment he showed up I prayed Shiraishi wouldn’t end up as the chosen one or “key” to summon some kind of demon queen and he almost verbatim says that.

Not that it ruins the story per se, but it was way better without the secret organizations and was shaping up to be an A+ drama, now I’ll just be relieved if there’s no tournament arc or dumb love triangle.

It's a bit disappointing that the threads seem to be getting a little excessively convoluted... However... I'll withhold too much disparagement until I actually see where it's going and the "payoff". Objectively, there weren't exactly a plethora of "good" routes for them to end up PHYSICALLY together, and almost none of those I considered were simple. So while the enhanced complexity might be tedious, I'll choose not to rush to judging it's value just yet.
