Tokio's name is made up 時 (time) and 生 (life).
This chapter is a continuation of chp.113 (Big Daddy). Foreman's got the Inception thing going where 1 minute in real life is like an hour in the dream
Near the middle of the chapter, Tokio starts calling Foreman by "Anta" which is a very rude way of saying "you". When they brought in Japanese people for us to talk to in our classes, I used "anta" instead of "anata" because of Evangelion and everyone at the table lol'd. One of the skills I'm proud of is being able to break the ice in any situation by making everyone laugh.
So anyway, I had Tokio use the f-word a few times because of "anta" and the old-school Fukumoto vibes I got during this chapter.

Really crazy Twilight Zone sorta chapter here... The way it built off one of the most sweet and sentimental chapters too, feels very insane lol. And was the ending maybe also a meta reference, to how the world of Ootsuki is created entirely in the mind of the mangaka?

Also curious if Ootsuki saying "Live Long and Prosper" was an intentional Star Trek reference in the original, or maybe a different cultural reference that you translated, Mr. Addict?

But it was actually a refreshingly enjoyable chapter, one thing I love about Kaiji spinoffs is that they get weirdly existential at times - but this is next level of weirdly existential

Oh man...Tokio was an actual construction, a "person" he made...but he got lazy after, with the later children being just jumbles of personality traits he associated with a "good child"...

And that ending. While it feels like a ridiculous idea, the sci-fi nerd part of me think maybe there is some truth to it. It reminds me of the book "Flatland" and the theory about higher dimensional beings. I never expect something like this in this manga. Such mind-blowing.

I had a long think about this one. The original is 未永く達者でな which means 未永く(eternally/for a long time) and 達者 (to be in good health). "tasha de" was used in the last dream chapter when he left his son, and I translated it as "fare thee well". If you've watched Fate/Zero, Saber says this to Kiritsugu as he duels Kayneth and they translated it to "I pray for your victory" or something.
I really liked the sound of the Spock quote and felt it was as poetic as the original JP (hm, I wonder how they translated it in the JP dub for that). Once I'm done with Foreman I've got a list of things to watch

It reminds me of a story I once read, where a fictional character realizes they and their entire life are fictional, and begs the author to not write their death. The author tries to explain to them that he can't write their story forever, but eventually complies... ending the story unceremoniously in the middle of a sentence. Perhaps Ootsuki should take a bit more responsibility for his creations.
Or as Terry Pratchett put it; What can the harvest hope for, if not for the care of the reaper man?
A god that abandons his creation seems a cruel one to me, indeed.

There's a powerful scene in Vonnegut's Breakfast of Champions like this, where the main character meets the author's self-insert character and eventually realizes who he is, and then chases him crying and yelling "Make me young! Make me young!"
