The other day I made carbonara and spaghetti bolognese for my friends. As the cook of the friend group, I prepped a lot of things before they arrived at my house, but feeding seven hungry guys (excluding myself) is actually one hell of a nightmare for a cook.

They kept scarfing down a whole wok's worth of it and I had to go back to the supermarket to buy seconds. Especially that oh-so-great cheap ground beef I found on sale that day; the butcher managed to recognize me on the third visit the same way a meth dealer would after finding out one of his clients is starting to turn into an addict.

I get tired with pasta easily even when compared to instant ramen or rice. Something about the bite/chew feel I'd say.

the curse of refining your palette is so real. almost every ingredient in my fridge is a more expensive variant that i grabbed once cause it was on sale or i was curious or whatever and now i can't go back to the cheap one. it's culinary lifestyle creep...

The real trick (if you don't already do this) is just put red pepper flakes in the sauce. It makes even straight out the box sauce and pasta taste great.

Even more so when your parents don't approve of it. Yesterday they didn't like the dish I made just because I added italian seasoning into it. "We're old school", they say... 😭
