Can anyone explain how this spinoff outlasted the Tonegawa and Ichijou spinoffs? Did it just sell a whole lot better? I know it's good but it surprises me that the least popular of these three characters got so far.

Possibly "lore-friendly" timeframe constraints? (Ironic taking into account all 3 spinoffs are set 20+ years further in the future than Kaiji kek)

Spoiler: Spoilers

Tonegawa's spinoff features development and implementation of gambles. There's only so long that they could run them for without those gambles becoming common knowledge and reaching someone like Kaiji without Endou's meddling.
2. Ichijō's spin-off already infringes on the original timeline technological progress notwithstanding, as he turns 19 and 20 respectively while still not being employed by Teiai - when in the original he has started his job at casino at 18. There's only so much you can write about him while still moving the plot forward and including callbacks to original series - the timeframe is too narrow.

With all that said, I sincerely wish Tonegawa's spinoff was still being translated and I do wish there would be at least 5 more volumes of Ichijō :<

Interesting! I thought it must be popular when I saw it at a Japanese convenience store among the very small selection of manga they had. It was there among the really big hitters in manga. I’m happy it’s doing so well.

I can't believe this manga got more volumes than the spinoffs for Tonegawa and Ichijo. Not complaining though, Foreman's gourmet adventures are surprisingly fun

So I am a huge Ootsuki fan and wanted to say I have enjoyed this translations so much, before finding about this translations I'd actually been to Japan and bought all the manga up until book 17! Of course, I couldn't really understand it but these translations have indeed been a god send to me and brought me so much joy

And yes I am a single 30s with decent disposable income, more or less the target market for these books I think. Ootsuki has outlasted Numakawa & Tonegawa now and he needs his own anime, even though they touched on it in Tonegawa he still needs his own dedicated show.
