Oh no, we're losing Mimisuke.

Will this make her lose her cool and mess up during the concert?

Contrary to what i have seen here i think this is more on the lines of mimi finally recovering her faith for herself and being totally fired up, cos we need to remember from chapter 1, she was absolutely destroyed by her idol group disbanded the way it did and having to give up her dream. Most of the manga aside from witnessing her loveable and dependable side we have seen her slowly coming to terms with the fact that she still got it and it is not a fluck.

So in my opinion i see this as mimisuke putting her foot forward with her lost confidense back and that includes a more cheeky and playful part of her resurfacing, which she has shown signs of before. I hope to be right and is just an addon to her down to earth personality and no an arrogant streak like is predicted here.

And on a personal note i love, LOVE that face she makes this chapter, is equal parts confident, mischievous and attractive as hell to me is insane, the author is doing god's work there even if isn't using his fanservice capabilities more overtly like he did in new game!, could you image mimi, ritsu, yuuri or someone else of the group like that? OOof! It would be killer!.

That smug face... Holy smokes, honestly I love it.

I agree with everyone, and feel that Mimisuke's been set up to have a very shocking experience, but it's hard to say if it'll happen now, or if it'll carry on to blow up further ahead. Because she's ready, like the others, she practiced a lot, she's got great chemistry with her teammates, she's been humbled before, and what's been causing her to lose focus was her nervousness.

It makes me imagine two (very) unlikely scenarios, we have a bit of pull back focus from Mimi and have an arc for another two contestants (Koyuki feels like a given at this point), she does well or aces it, and that makes her arrogant going forward. Another is that she'll fumble to a point she'd be eliminated, but gets saved by the popularity vote.

Like @Razsius, I think she'll fumble but self correct midway, maybe after a poor performance on day one, with Ibuki and Ritsu helping her get her head on the game.

Anyway, great chapter! I can't wait for the next one, tyvm for the scanlation! :bocchiwave:
I feel like it's going to be the fumble, get saved by popularity, and then have an immense amount of guilt that she made it through while someone else who didn't fumble gets eliminated in her stead. Her having to navigate those feelings and come out the other side being stronger would make for a parallel with Koyuki that maybe as both being black stars the next round they can work to overcome together. It would be a solid arc.

That or I'm completely wrong, in which case just please spare the Shuri Suzu combo q.q

Figuring out she has two hands for both her girls powered her up too much, alas. She's flying too close to the sun.

On another tack...I know I'm getting too old when I think that sailor-ish uniforms kinda weirds me out. Yes, they actually are pretty young in some cases but emphasizing it like that is a little...eh.

Tbh, it didn't cross my mind about the ages because my brain just went, "sailor uniforms? Well I guess the entire show is based around the cruise ship, that makes sense."

It's almost been 4 years since the first chapter came out. I wonder when an anime adaptation will happen because this series is really good.

@FlameTaJaDoru pg 24, verb tense error: should be hasn't, rather than haven't

60%!? let's go! the gay undertones are still thriving!

lol the lil idol hater completely unaware that they've all been white and black stars prior to this

oof, I love how hot and confident smuggum Mimi is, but she's been operating on underdog narrative in her own mind this entire time, she's not practiced at performing under smug mode

Mimisuke always pulls great faces, so the smuggy one is a good addition to my collection! I just wish she was this confident when it came to her yuri life.

I'm surprised so many people think Mimi is being smug. To me, it seems like she's masking feelings of imposter syndrome.

Yeah. Mimisuke's core issue lately is the feeling of not worthy enough for the fame she has. She even says it herself during the handshake event.

That last expression she had before the show was of her losing it.
