In a case like this, it would be nice if the slave was just talking shit and flattering the simpleton owner to get better treatment and, ultimately, prepare for her escape later by making the owner careless and blinded by love. As it is, I'm 100% certain Atie is speaking her honest feelings because this is complete trash fantasy (even if it's not isekai), but it would be a good plot element in a better work. It would also troll readers jumping into conclusions too fast.
It would be fantastic if this is the case, because fuck I can't stomach how self-congratulating the story is to an MC that's dumb enough to choose to buy a slave after losing his house without any real plan, only to have everything work out for him through offscreen stuffs.
I just don't get how he gets from "my house is burnt down" to "let's buy a slave", no matter what I equate the slave to.
He doesn't even have land to take care of, what was he even expecting the slave to do? Not for sex apparently, oh no our dear sweet goody two shoes MC is way too nice for that, and it doesn't seem to be as meat fodder when adventuring. Such a shame too, because I like the elf's design (though she's oddly really white in some cover).
Can anyone spoil if she'll try to escape or not?
