I assume she's going to meet the prince alone and it's either going to go really badly or her phoenix is going to assert its authority over whatever the heck the prince's spirit is.

It bothers her, but I think Bridgitte just want to shove all the story with the prince under the rug and be done with it.

The limits in spirits’ contract could be confusing though.
iinm, the spirits have better position in contract. They are not submitting to control by the human, instead it’s just them getting along with what their contractor asks. But the limit of how far they tolerate their contractor seems to be uncertain.

I'm absolutely in love with this series. It's like an author finally found one of these threads about what people are sick of in Villainness stories and went "okay bet". It's super refreshing seeing realistic solutions that are still dramatic.

I think he's just a dick who scares them.

But, I like the thought process... We saw with Nival that suitably strong spirits can possess their masters due to strong emotions. I'd be keen to believe Joseph is under the control of his spirit perhaps since his own ceremony. If he has an inferiority complex, surely whether with good intentions or not, his spirit could be trying to prove he's superior?

I think it’s just purely skill issue.

Like, Joseph might just be an average guy.
He’s unlucky to be born into royalty, while his parents and brothers are a lot more competent than he is.
So that made him relatively much worse and people look down on him as result.
No idea what the other royalties have as spirits, but Joseph’s are just average, so he can’t even make that as his unique sales value. Unlike if he got himself cheat level spirits like isekai protagonist; at least with that he can cover his incompetence in other fields like politics or governing
