there is a big problem with proportions, as suddenly characters have long as heck torsos and little head. Also this kind of story, about aestetics, really should be in color

"In advanced fashion practitioners like to break what's standard." Seems true. It gets to the point where being tacky on purpose and being tacky on accident can be indistinguishable, to where the circle of fashion rolls all the way around to the point on the other side and it's really no different from being unfashionable.

So the cynical could say, "So why did I bother learning all that stuff to begin with, when I was already 'advanced fashionable' with my ugly clothes to begin with?"

Which while not totally accurate, does have a point. No matter what you wear, if it's not in fashion now, it either was in the past or probably will be in the future. Maybe even both. Like say you're some girl or guy that never stopped dressing like it was the 80's. That would mean you went in and out of style several times, and even when you're out of season, people could still think your clothes were "fairly recent".
