I love Science Fiction and stories about extraterrestrian life in particular, but I seriously loathe stories that make the scientific and academic community out to be a congregation of eccentric geniuses who follow no apparent logic and manage to do everything mundane with no effort. I intend to read this for science and the good ideas, not the fanservice or the slapstick humor. It just de-values a very serious and interesting concept.

Sorry for the rant. Going to take a back seat now.
