Not gonna lie, The ending was probably one of the best thing about this manga, only because how dumb and over the top, everything happend, IT MAKES NO SENSE, but you know what, I'm not bored, I'm not Angry, I'm also not really horny at this point, the manga really went to make nudity just a vital point in the story, IT'S SOO STUPID... But I love it.

This is not dumb ending. This is humor ending just like Silent Hill UFO ending or Drakengard reverse isekai ending where the ending scene is totally detached from the entire story's setting.

@Seedy The reason was they weren't sure that they were cancelled when it aired.
The episode had to serve both as a possible series finale and the series had to be able to continue from it, which is why it was how it was.

For sure, I think in that by the end of volume 5 they were going to go a more serious direction, then through executive meddling , were likely told how much more they had and realized that they couldn't do the serious treatment so they went with the Gainax Ending instead - I mean if you're boned either way, might as well turn the nonsense up to 11 and just have fun with it.

I would give this manga 10/10 for the last few chapters. I'm so bored with the usual heavy melodramatic stuff that happened in every romance manga I've read, so the ending is definitely a nice change.
In reality, there is little that can be done to change the father's mind, the only viable ways to get together are running away to a far far away place or bring him down from his throne, which are basically impossible for a high schooler. If the manga went the usual way, I could only see it getting lame and forced each chapter onward.
