To clarify this, no its not "genetic", but mental illness can be inherited. Typically it occurs in the form of the parents mimicking the same environmental factors that influenced their own illnesses. Thus, passing them on to their children. Its a vicious cycle that we have to be conscious of in order to break and spare our children the suffering that we went through

I said it has a genetic link, not "it's genetic and nothing else influences it." Environmental factors play a major role in mental disorders manifesting themselves or not, but the vulnerability to them is 100% something that is genetically passed on. I qualified it as "extremely strong" because of personal anecdotal evidence, but that's the only part that's subject to debate.
