So good news: There's a chapter break basically in the middle of a scene and the last chapter isn't numbered. So the actual final chapter is 23! You get two more full chapters!
Also I'm going to break up the three separate bonus epilogue chapters into 23.5 .6 and .7 since they're wildly different from each other, But I'll release them at the same time. They'll be in the same order as they are in the Volume.

So this series will have 3 more updates in total.

Hot doctor Makoto was a heavenly bonus!

So what happens here? Does exposing his Mom's fraud make her apologize and give up? Does she get in legal trouble for bribery? It would be very funny if the solution to "strict Asian parent" was white collar prison.

She's not going to get in real trouble. That would cause too much fuss and make the family lose face.

Most likely (and to be clear this is me guessing, I have no spoilers) she'll be confronted with the accusation/proof, Kippei will get angry, she'll try to deflect/justify herself, and with Makoto there he'll declare that he's not going to let his mom dictate his life to him and that she should stop being so selfish and let his little sister inherit the inn like she wants to rather than trapping him in the gig out of a stupid sense of tradition and thereby ruin both her kids' lives. But in doing so this will all get swept under the rug and everyone will pretend the scandal part never happened and that things just changed on their own, somehow.

Almost certainly she'll say she did it for his sake and/or because it's what the father would want

And that it was necessary for the family's reputation and the standing/future of the inn, ignoring how much of a slap in the face it is to her daughter. I expect it would play a lot into that whole "filial piety" thing that Japan is super invested in, where people "owe" their families to the extent that they should never do anything for themselves when they can instead sacrifice and do what the family wants

I did not expect a heist, but we got two amazing Makoto looks out of it, so I don't mind.
I am very happy that there'll be epilogue chapters, I am already very excited for them.

Thank you for translating ^^

I think Makoto is operating on the assumption that she'll have to wield the threat of going to the public with this information, but what she doesn't know is that the only people who need to know this information are Kippei and more critically Kippei's father, since the dad was considerate enough of his son's dreams to not tell him how sick he was. I think the dad being more conscious and lucid than we (and Kippei) at first assumed he could be is going to act as a sort of Deus Ex Machina that resolves a lot of what seems to be unresolvable at the moment, regarding Kippei's obligations to the Inn and his Kim's unwillingness to let the sister inherit the responsibility instead (if I'm not confusing plot points with a different manga).
