It's definitely not going to fuck up your ribs. It's terrible for a whole host of comfort and functionality reasons, but your ribs are tough AF.

i didn't say it was the origin i said it's where i first heard it. rib bruising is widely reported with unsafe binding practices so i don't really know why you think this
