@kwendy They're wearing N95 masks in the image, those actually do prevent COVID-19 from passing through them. They're also pretty much impossible to find still, since they're mainly reserved for medical workers.
@ColonelCrisp Japanese schools can have some
really strict uniform codes, most of which impact girls more than boys. (No joke, skirt lengths are even mentioned in them, and it's not unheard of for teachers to get out a ruler and measure.) In this case she said it was "too gaudy," probably because it's too brightly colored. My bet is the school code forbids accessories that can be "distracting," and that's why she said it violated it.
@TNT261 The part-time job thing is more understandable, as the justification is to make sure the students spend most of their time focusing on their studies instead of work. We both know they're still going to spend a ton of time playing around instead, but at least it has
some logical justification. What you might not have known is that high-school students get paid less for the same job than an adult does. That's the law, and it's done for the same reason (to discourage teens from working), but it's some serious bullshit. Not all schools forbid them, though.
