That chain of events felt so quick and so... Not important? A princess was poisoned in a "post war peace meeting" and the person guilty of it wasn't immediately cut down nor there were repercussions for the other side, this feels rushed lol.

FMC father have a lot of balls and too much playing politics, even try to do something crazy:
try to assassinate her own daughter +
in the summit of countries +
do the assassination in the front of FMC fiancee/other king +
poison failed, and try other to do dirty work +
which the daughter is discarded in her own country and called useless/worthless

Is FMC father, a demon?
why not the the host country slap the shitty king with fine/penalty or other kind of punishment?

Hmmmm I dunno why you'd save the assassin, seems like a stupid move in many ways.

At this point why not just behead the king on grounds of attempted royal assassination they'd have the grounds.
That king is a royal too, if you killed him, it just give a whole continent justified reason to destroy your own kingdom -_-

Well, even if she spares the assassin, the assassin will still die

I mean the Female lead said earlier that the empire is still more powerful. It would be like Iran killing the President of the US or the Taiwan killing the Xi Jinping during a peaceful meeting; instant and complete destruction in a war of "righteous retribution" from the empire.
Also back in feudal times there were times when it was considered wrong to just kill a king since he was ordained by god. So you had to get an okay beforehand like getting the pope to say god said it was Okay to kill the ordained king.

As for the assassin, I think she was feeling sorry for her. The chapter stated that she lost her family due to the war and the food issues so there was an actual reason why she would feel like this was the right thing to do. So the female lead might feel a bit at fault and also hopes that she can have the assassin see a future where no one else will die the way their family had.

I suspect that assassin will be unalived, even the FMC seemed to have doubts on the assassins "good health" after all this. Generally you don't get to live after attempting to assassinate a royal specially not from a commoner and even if still alive would have a lifetime in prison.

I think its more likely the emperor will kill her both in anger at her for failing and to further obscure his direct connection to this attempt.
He could just claim the maid acted alone and that his involvement is hearsay and she was suppose to only be a your garden variety spy that every country is probably using to gather intelligence while also punishing failure to achieve what he wanted.

If not then she is mostly likely going to be jailed in a dungeon for the rest of her life. I don't see her having a happyish end now that she was deported back to the empire.

i get it's manga logic but isn't it kind of stupid to assassinate someone in that situation. Like seriously why wait till that happened when you could've just ordered her to slit her throat during the night when she's asleep or something. it's way more likely to work then literally trying to do an assasination with 8 people in the room.

I can't fathom why Millie would want to assassinate Claire at all, let alone right then and there in front of everyone.

Millie suffered because of the empire, therefore she decided to secretly work for them...??? What?
