In fact they shouldn't be expected to survive on them. Excessive carrot consumption leads to health issues due to the sugar content. It's actually recommended they don't eat an entire carrot in a single week. Moderation is key.

Heck, my Holland Lop despised fruits and vegetables and even refused to eat any kind of hay. He survived 10 years on pellets and water... as well as occasionally stealing bits of wheat bread when I had a sandwich. He was bonkers for Frans 9 Grain bread, but really any wheat bread or cracker. I tried giving him wheat grass and wheat hay but he wouldn't touch it.
